University

Kansai University is one of Japan's leading comprehensive universities, with 14 faculties and 15 graduate schools, including two professional graduate schools. Boasting a rich 140-year history, the university has sent more than 500,000 graduates into the world, and they are now actively contributing across a wide range of fields both in Japan and abroad.

Kansai University's mission is to nurture future leaders who can make meaningful contributions to society. To this end, we are constantly introducing innovative ideas and making dynamic efforts.

With approximately 30,000 enrolled students, the university boasts campuses exclusively located in Osaka. As the largest city in western Japan, Osaka has long been renowned as a cultural hub. Situated just an hour away from Kyoto, Nara, and Kobe, Kansai University provides international students with the opportunity to explore a rich tapestry of historical and cultural sites while pursuing their studies.

Kansai University also provides different kinds of scholarship to international students. These scholarships are awarded for a period of one year and is contingent upon obtaining the status of residence "College Student".

Regarding the university-administered scholarships provided by Kansai University, all international students enrolled in the doctoral program are generally eligible to receive a scholarship equivalent to approximately 50% of their tuition fees.

Additionally, regarding the Pre-Enrollment Scholarship for International Students intended for new students, since students are notified of their provisional acceptance prior to enrollment, international students who passed the entrance examination before arriving in Japan are also eligible. For international students in undergraduate and Master’s programs, the amount and number of recipients vary by department; please check the “Scholarships (Students Enrolling in FY2020 and Later)” section on the Kansai University International Affairs Office website for details.

In addition to university-administered scholarships, there are numerous scholarship programs provided by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) and private foundations.

Furthermore, Kansai University accepts government-sponsored international students recommended by embassies and also participates in the university-recommended international student program.

Kansai University also provides support for international students seeking employment in Japan. The “SUCCESS Consortium for International Student Employment Support” was launched in the spring of 2022 to assist international students in finding employment in Japan. The consortium organizes seminars and other events for international students at participating universities, aiming to develop the skills necessary for employment—such as cross-cultural understanding and self-management—while fostering talent capable of thriving in Japanese society over the long term.
