Nagoya Gakuin University, founded in 1964 by an American missionary Dr. Frederic C. Klein, follows the principle of “Fear God, Love People.” Our university is located in Nagoya, Japan’s fourth-most populous city with easy access to two major cities: Tokyo and Osaka. It consists of 8 faculties with 11 departments and of 2 graduate schools with 5 majors. We have over 6,000 students with nearly 60,000 alumni. Each faculty and department conducts unique education based on our educational goal, which is “to foster our ambitions and global awareness, and to prepare leaders who will be able to contribute to society.

Regarding our international program, we have formed partnerships with 85 schools around the world and have provided various opportunities to study abroad and to experience international exchange. Our international program is also unique in that we have the Institute of Japanese Studies (IJS). IJS is a one-year intensive course, providing two main courses: Japanese language courses and Japan-study courses. The former is divided into eight different levels, so students can be classified according to their proficiency level, while the latter offers subjects such as Japanese Economics and Japanese Society both in English and Japanese. Students of IJS study at Global Links, where not only international students but undergraduates also study together. It works as a platform where students from around the world can interact and different cultures intersect.
